Take back life from low back pain with Nalu

Chronic pain can affect nearly every part of your life, from getting through the workday to sleeping comfortably and enjoying time with family. When physical therapy, medications, injections, or other treatments have not provided enough relief, the Nalu Neurostimulation System may offer another option.

Nalu is designed to reduce certain types of chronic pain by delivering mild electrical pulses near the affected nerves. These pulses help interrupt pain signals before they reach the brain, providing a personalized approach to pain management.

Understanding lower back pain

Chronic lower back pain can stem from various conditions, including arthritis and inflammation of the joints in the spine. This pain can interfere with daily activities, making it difficult to move comfortably, sleep well, or enjoy an active lifestyle.

What is Nalu Neurostimulation?

The Nalu Neurostimulation System is a multi-component, non-integrated implant designed to help manage certain types of chronic pain. It uses mild electrical pulses to interrupt pain signals traveling from the affected nerves to the brain.

The system includes a small implanted microstimulator, thin leads placed near the affected nerves, and an externally worn Therapy Disc that powers and controls the system. Your physician will determine the appropriate placement based on the location and type of pain you are experiencing.

Benefits of the Nalu Neurostimulation

Nalu offers several features designed to make chronic pain treatment more comfortable and convenient:

Small, discreet implant: The device is implanted through a minimally invasive procedure, allowing for quicker recovery compared to traditional surgeries.
Personalized treatment: The leads are placed near the nerves believed to be contributing to your pain, allowing treatment to be tailored to your specific needs.
Long service life: The implanted micro-IPG is designed for long-term use, with a service life of up to 18 years.
Flexible daily use: The Therapy Disc can be removed when stimulation is not needed or when you prefer not to wear it, such as while swimming or wearing certain clothing.

What to expect during and after the procedure

Your physician will begin by evaluating your symptoms, medical history, and previous treatments to determine whether Nalu may be appropriate for you.

Eligible patients may first complete a temporary trial period. This allows you and your physician to evaluate how well neurostimulation reduces your pain before proceeding with the permanent implant.

If the trial is successful, the small Nalu micro-IPG and leads are implanted beneath the skin. The wearable Therapy Disc is then placed over the implanted device using a comfortable adhesive clip. The system includes two Therapy Discs, allowing you to use one while the other is charging.

Your physician will provide instructions for using the system and adjusting your therapy settings through the Nalu smartphone app.
